Moose is just over a week removed from having taken part in a mainstream media critically acclaimed match teaming with fellow NFL star DeAngelo Williams against Eli Drake and Chris Adonis. We got the call from the big guy at about 12:30 a.m. his time and he was up to doing an interview. When Moose calls and says he’s set, you better be ready! We were. And, we got some goodies in our brief time with the GFW superstar.
On his Slammiversary match teaming with DeAngelo Williams:
“It was awesome! DeAngelo Williams did great! He’s what professional wrestling social media has been talking about. For a first match, he did phenomenal. I can’t wait to keep the ball rolling!” He continues on Williams’ performance by saying, “Definitely the best celebrity wrestler ever to get in the ring.”
On if he is surprised Williams retiring after only one match:
“Well, no. He made that known in training that this was only a one time endeavor. He didn’t want to do it again. So, we definitely knew.”
On his thoughts on Eli Drake:
“I think he’s a star, man. He’s definitely great on the mic. His in-ring skills are awesome also. I feel like he’s the total package in there. I think there’s nothing but great stuff coming in his future.”
On GFW’s expanded relationship with Pro Wrestling NOAH:
“I think it’s great, man! I feel like in 2017, the more relationships you have with other huge companies only helps our company, you know? I think we’re doing a great job with that. I think Jeff Jarrett is a great addition to our company. He definitely knows what he’s doing. I think all the relationships he’s doing, it shows.”
On being a former NFL star playing fantasy football in the Impact locker room:
“I mean, it’s fair because any Sunday, you don’t know who is going to perform. Me being an ex-football player doesn’t mean I know who is going to perform on Sundays. I think it’s definitely fair.”
On his current feud with Ethan Carter III:
“We’re going to have some great matches, man. ECIII is a great talent. I feel like I’m a great talent myself. I think we have really good chemistry and those things combined will make for a really good match.”
On the Grand Impact Championship concept:
“Yeah, it’s a cool concept they came up with a couple of months ago. I feel like I’ve done a good job making it what it is now. I feel like, if they decide to keep it, it’s only going to get better. It all depends on what management wants to do with it. But, I mean, I’m good either way.”
On why he chose Impact over WWE NXT:
“I just felt like it was a better situation. That’s all I really want to say about that. I think it was just a better situation for me. That’s why I decided to come to Impact.”
On the new excitement around Impact with the new GFW name and direction:
“Like I said, Jeff Jarrett knows what he’s doing. This isn’t the first time he’s built a company from scratch. He’s getting to do it again. We all believe it’s going to be successful because he has done it.”
On why he chose to wrestle under Moose instead of his relatively well-known name from the NFL:
“I mean, Moose was always a nick name of mine during my playing days. When I started wrestling, it seemed like an easy choice for me to keep it.”
On his future goals at Impact:
“Just to become better with every match. I want to become as big of a star as possible. I feel I can do that just by getting better in the ring every time I get into the ring.”
