During Sunday night's AAA television taping, which took place in Monterrey, Mexico, Sexy Star became the brand new AAA Reina de Reinas Champion after Taya Valkyrie was stripped of the championship because she, according to AAA, "used a choke hold during her No-DQ match with Ayako Hamada." Valkyrie defeated Hamada back in April to initially win the championship.
Lucha Blog has posted the following on their official Twitter page regarding the situation over Valkyrie being stripped of the title:

Valkyrie has also since taken to her own official Twitter page to react to the situation, in which she also announced that she was quitting the promotion:
