WWE Smackdown Results (5/2)

Welcome to Smackdown Live, coming to you from Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA. Tonight we got a rematch for the U.S. Championship between new champion Chris Jericho and the challenger Kevin Owens. Also, expect to see the fallout from Randy Orton's defeat to Bray Wyatt thanks to the man who stole his championship, Jinder Mahal. Stay tuned and be sure to refresh every 5 minutes for all your live coverage needs!

We kick things off with a video from earlier today of Jinder Mahal in a photo shoot with the title. Shane McMahon shows up and tells him that titles are earned, and he takes it back. Mahal says he will take it for good when he wins it, and Shane tells him to worry about his match tonight against Sami Zayn.

Shane then makes his way to the ring in the present time. He then introduces the newest member of Smackdown Live, the new U.S. Champion Chris Jericho. He pumps up the crowd and  says he's giving them the Show of Jericho, "Smack it down maaaan". Shane says he's thrilled and everyone is,  but reminds him that he will be defending his championship against Kevin Owens. AJ Styles  comes out and welcomes him while reminding them of their past as enemies. He informs him that he's the #1 contender for his title, and that nothing will please him more to take his title at Backlash if he still has it.

Jericho warns him that what happened at Payback will happen to him at Backlash and then almost puts Styles on the list but is interrupted by Kevin Owens. Owens thinks its silly they're arguing about things that don't matter, and says that he will take his title back. He tells AJ that he has no business being in the ring, to which AJ responds by charging him on the ramp and starting a brawl between the two as we head to break. When we return it's announced that Styles is banned from ringside for the U.S. title match tonight.
