ITV’s revival of World of Sport Wrestling is to be commissioned for a full series in the United Kingdom, according to PWInsider.
The announcement which is expected shortly comes three months after a successful 'one-off' relaunch of the brand on ITV at the end of 2016. The show was fronted by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross who provided commentary for the show.
In addition to the big announcement, PWInsider reports that Jeff Jarrett is heading to the UK and may be involved with the series going forward with his links to Impact Wrestling.
World of Sport Wrestling aired for two decades in the 1970s and 80s to a weekly television audience of over 10 million. The brand produced legendary names such as Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks and Mick Mcmanus. The rival will hope to capture some of that nostalgia and help create new household names.
WWE is right now in the process of upping their game in the United Kingdom with the launch of their UK division and tournaments. If Impact Wrestling are involved with the WOS relaunch this is significant because ITV is one of the United Kingdom's biggest mainstream broadcasters and has the potential to reach a large audience in primetime slots.
