WWE Backlash Moved To May 2017 As A SmackDown Branded Pay-Per-View

WWE announced during last night's Raw in Chicago that they would return to the Allstate Arena on May 21 for the 2017 Backlash pay-per-view, which will again be SmackDown branded.

Backlash made its return after being retired for 6 years ago on September 11th, 2016 as a SmackDown-branded show.

The 2017 PPV calendar following WrestleMania 33 on April 2, looks as follows:

With this show, we now have a better idea of WWE’s event schedule after April 2’s WrestleMania 33:

- Payback (Raw), San Jose (April 30)
- Backlash (Smackdown), Chicago (May 21)
- Extreme Rules (Raw), Baltimore (June 4)
- Money in the Bank (SD), St. Louis (June 18).
