On Monday night's edition of WWE Raw, Austin Aries surprised the crowd by attacking WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville after interviewing him following Neville's successful title defense against Rich Swann.

During the interview, Neville said that there was no one on 205 Live who was on his level. When the crowd began chanting Aries's name, Aries said it sounded like the WWE Universe disagreed with Neville, to which Neville responded by telling Aries that he couldn't possibly be suggesting himself. Neville then told Aries to leave the ring, and Aries told Neville that he was just trying to do his job. He then said he had one more question, but that it was more of a statement, then attacked Neville.
