There are around 40 unsigned talent who are getting their own tryout at WWE's own Performance Center. Some of the more well-known names include Shayna Baszler(MMA fighter) and Eddie Kingston. (Chikara, CZW, AWA, PWG)
There are 19 men and 19 women who are taking the challenge to hopefully get signed to become the next WWE superstar. Oh, and one female will become a referee. This is the largest amount of talent for the women's division as well.
Canyon Ceman, WWE’s Vice President of Talent Development had this to say about the female prospects
“The fact that this is the most women ever at a single tryout reflects the rise of the Women’s divisions in NXT and WWE, This tryout includes women from all over North America, and more female athletes have been invited to a European tryout in November and an Australian tryout in December.”
To give more background info about Shayna she had previously fought for UFC, and is a member of MMA's "Four Horsewomen" stable which includes Rousey as well. Shayna also trained under former UFC fighter and New Japan wrestler Josh Barnett as well as catch-wrestling legend Billy Robinson, and has competed on the American independent wrestling scene for the past year.
There's also Cedric Rougeau, the son of former WWE wrestler Jacques Rougeau. Some of the other male names confirmed by WWE are Jacob Fatu of the Anoa’i wrestling dynasty, Canadian tag team Jeff Parker and Matt Lee, and former Buffalo Bills fullback Corey Knox.
