TNA wrestling has no doubt had a lot of issues over the last few years with many calling for Dixie Carters head in the process. They may finally get their wish as Dixie has not been at the last two sets of television tapings for IMPACT.
The former Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan was named the new TNA President after he had served as Senior Producer of Creative and Talent Development. Corgan was promoted after he bought an ownership stake in the company with Dixie Carter assuming the position of Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer.
Corgan has said that he cannot talk in detail about all of the goings on but that he feels that the company is making all of the right moves going forward. Corgan did say that the company needs the proper funding and resources to continue. In recent years we have seen a number of TNA originals such as AJ Styles (WWE), Bobby Roode (NXT), Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian (ROH) leave the company for what many speculated as contract reasons. Out of respect to the company a lot of the departing talent never admitted it was because of money. Even ring crews and other backstage positions were rumored to not be paid by the company as well. Whether Corgan can help in that department is still really left to be seen.
Many feel if Dixie is gone it would be the best thing for the TNA. It’s no surprise those feelings exist considering TNA in its heyday was entertaining television with the best women’s roster in the business and an X-Division that carried the company on its back for almost its entire existence. By the way if you haven’t been keeping up with TNA the women’s division is now basically a joke and the X-Division has been demised.
Overall since Dixie has taken over TNA has always thought they were bigger then what they really are. They thought and think they can compete with the likes of the WWE. That didn’t work to well in the end for another down south company in WCW. Remember WCW also had the bottomless pockets of Ted Turner and TNA has had a hard time paying talent. Be serious.
Hopefully TNA can make a big splash again. With the Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero Jeff Hardy characters and a slew of younger talent they can be viable and make some money but they have to know their limitations.
