Smackdown Live Intro
Smackdown is coming to us from the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut and we kick things off with two brand new championships on display in the ring surrounded by the Smackdown roster. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan come out to the ring and Shane says every superstar in the ring has a huge opportunity in front of them
Bryan applauds the women's division for their performance at Summerslam and at Backlash a women's six pack challenge will take place to determine the first ever Smackdown Women's Championship. Bryan next announces a tournament to determine the new Smackdown Tag Team Champions
Heath Slater then steps up and wants entry into the tag team championship tournament. Shane says Slater's not part of the roster and doesn't know how he got here but that's another story. Bryan then says if Slater can find a tag team partner before the night is over he's in the tournament but Shane puts forth the challenge to Slater that he has to win the entire tournament
Slater says they won't regret it and immediately exits the ring to search for a partner. AJ Styles walks out with grievances of his own but before he can continue talking, Dolph Ziggler attacks him from behind but it's quickly broken up as Smackdown goes to break

AJ Styles walks out to the ring as the crowd starts an "AJ Styles" chant. Styles says he sees a lot of angry and jealous faces like Dolph Ziggler because of what he did at Summerslam
Styles says he did exactly what he said he'd do. Beat up John Cena then beat him at Summerslam. But the Cenation doesn't have to cry anymore because they can all be AJ Styles fans and he is the face that runs the place and should be the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship.
Ziggler goes to storm the ring but is stopped by officials and Bryan comes out and says he will not let Ziggler and Styles ruin the show. He agrees with Styles he should be the #1 Contender. Ziggler came close at Summerslam and it's apparent that Styles and Ziggler want to fight so tonight it will happen and if Styles wins he goes onto Backlash to face Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship. and if Ziggler wins he gets added to that match and it becomes a triple threat

Last Sunday: Highlights from Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton at Summerslam
Randy Orton makes his way out to the ring. Orton says he was in a helluva fight on Sunday with Brock Lesnar. He knew what he was in for he knew he was going to suplex city and he would have rather gone out on a gurney instead of have the match end the way it did. Shane intervened and thought he was doing the right thing and maybe on paper he was but one day he and Lesnar's path will cross again
Bray Wyatt's music plays and The Eater Of World makes his way out. Wyatt asks how Orton's head is. He saw what Lesnar did and saw Orton's eyes change and go completely blank. Wyatt calls Orton a great man but still just a man. A man who hurts, suffers and dies. But he is not just a man, he is a god and a god can never die. Orton will find out about it in time
Backstage: Shane doesn't think Stephanie will take Brock Lesnar's actions seriously. He found out she fined Lesnar $500 Neither of them are taking this seriously and this thing between Shane and Lesnar is far from over.
