On the same night in which he won the 2016 Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Dean Ambrose cashed in the contract he won in that match to become the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Sunday night's Money in the Bank event.

Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins to win the title after Rollins had just defeated Roman Reigns to become the champion for the second time.

Ambrose's win marks his first reign as champion.
