NXT REPORT Breakdown and Analysis 4TH May 2016

Samoa Joe walks out, mixed reaction but mostly cheers for the new NXT champ who is making his first NXT TV appearance as the new champion.
Joe cuts a promo and states that this a new era and he is running things now. Joe says that he is more than happy to beat down and choke anyone out who has a problem with that.
Unfamiliar music hits… its ERIC YOUNG! Crowd goes wild, ‘Holy Shit’ chant breaks out, Tom Philips describes Young as the ‘hottest free agent in sports entertainment’. Young takes a mic, Loud ‘EY ‘chants for young. Young begins to cut a promo in which he says that ‘the only guarantee in life is change ‘and that he ‘collects championships and things will change for Joe’. Young and Joe go toe to toe staring in each other’s eyes, Joe leaves the ring and says that Eric young doesn’t even belong in the same ring as him and the next time he does young will get his ‘ ass beaten ‘.

1-Â Â TESSA BLANCHARD VS NIA JAX
A ‘ Let’s go Blanchard ‘ chant starts from the crowd as they begin to lock up but Nia Jax throws Tessa right to the ring corner. Jax begins assault on Blanchard and hits a Samoan Drop then hits a leg drop for the 3 count.
WINNER – Nia Jax. Very, very short squash match for Jax who is continuing her build as a ‘monster ‘.

2-Â Â AUSTIN ARIES VS TYE DILLINGER
Dillinger comes out first, good pop for Dillinger. Aries then enters. ‘10, 10, 10 ‘chants from the crowd as the match begins, Phillips notes how the crowd are firmly behind Dillinger.
Dillinger stars the match the better of the two, crowd really on his side with the ‘10 ‘chants, Backbreaker from Dillinger early on leads to a kick out at 1 from Aries. Dillinger then begins to work the back of Aries. More ‘10 ‘chants, Dillinger then Irish whips Aries into the corner, hard. Dillinger goes for the cover but Aries kicks out again. ‘That was 10 ‘chant from crowd.
Both Graves and Philips discuss how a win for Aries is vital for him in his quest to the main event scene at NXT. Aries gets up and begins chopping Dillinger. Aries then hits a short clothesline. Dillinger launches Aries over the top but Aries lands on the edge and ‘claps ‘Dillinger and then sends him out of the ring. Aries then hits a corkscrew Plancha on the outside on Dillinger. Neck breaker on the ropes from Aries, Aries attempts to follow this up with a kick to Dillinger in the corner but Dillinger counters and turns a fireman carry into a neck breaker. Cover attempt from Dillinger, Aries kicks out at 2. ‘That was 10 ‘chant from crowd, this is a really good match. Dillinger is hit by a rolling Elbow and then hits an insane 450 splash on Dillinger. 1-2-3.
WINNER – AUSTIN ARIES, Really good match by both competitors, Dillinger proving he can go, I’d like to see this guy get a bigger push soon.

3-Â Â THE HYPE BROS ( ZACK RYDER & MOJO RAWLEY ) VS THE REVIVAL ( SCOTT DAWSON % DASH WILDER )
Ryder and Wilder begin the match and lock up to kick off the match.  ‘ Lets go Ryder, woo woo woo’ chants from the NXT fans. Wilder gets Ryder into the corner straight away, tag made to Dawson. Revival on the upper hand at the moment. Clothesline from Dawson who then tags in Wilder who uses a knee shot to put Ryder back into the corner. Big uppercut from Wilder to Ryder, tag made again to Dawson, who both team up to hit an elbow drop on Ryder. Kick out from Ryder.
Dawson gets Ryder in the headlock. Phillips notes how the revival have dominated all of this match so far. Tag made again to Wilder, Ryder is getting a big beating. Wilder attempts a running bulldog but Ryder manages to get out and finally makes the tag to Mojo Rawley. Rawley on the offense and takes out Wilder with shoulder blocks. Rawley then hits Dawson off the apron. Dawson tags himself in whilst Rawley whips Wilder into the ropes, Wilder slides through Rawleys legs and BOOM. Shatter Machine from the revival. 1-2-3.
WINNERS – The Revival. Very good short match. Revival built as strong contenders for the NXT Tag titles.

Alex Riley is interviewed by Andrea about his match with Nakamura next week. Living up to his heel persona, Riley states that he doesn’t even know what strong style is and states that whilst Nakamura may have been successful all round the world, that this is NXT.

4-Â Â NO WAY JOSE VS NOAH KEHOA
Joses music hits to a big pop from the crowd. ‘ NO WAY.. JOSE’ chants from the crowd who clearly love this gimmick. ‘ Jose Jose Jose’ to the tune of ‘ ole ole ole ‘ chants from the crowd, Jose soaks it all up. This guy oozes with charisma. Noah Kehoe gets frustrated and goes straight into a lock up, Jose reverses and takes down Kehoa. Arm lock from Jose early on. Kehoa lands a quick punch on Jose who looks pissed. Jose then begins to dominate and hits back to back chops on Kehoa followed by a bulldog. Spanish chant for ‘ Yes we can ‘ according to Phillips from the crowd. Big right hand from Jose, who then hits the full nelson slam. 1-2-3!
WINNER – No Way Jose, another quick match to keep Jose looking strong.

*Backstage Interview*
New interviewer Cathy Kelly interviews Austin Aries, who states that after tonight he is the perfect 20. He claims that he has become under the raider since joining NXT, but that is okay as he is going to raise his profile. He then leaves as he says that he’s off to eat his banana to replenish his potassium levels. LOL!

5-Â Â SAMOA JOE VS ERIC YOUNG
Young comes out to a good pop. Phillips notes how Young has competed and won titles all over the world. I wonder what company he won them in, Phillips. Hmmm. Joe comes out, mixed reaction.
Joe and Young begin to trade back and forth blows after grappling for the first 40 seconds of the match. Drop kick from Young takes down Joe, spinning neck breaker gets Joe down again. Cover attempt but Joe kicks out at 1. Young continues to dominate. However, Joe manages to recover and throws Young over the outside of the ring, Joe then dives through the ropes onto Young. We cut to a break.
We come back from the Break. Phillips highlights how it’s been all Joe in this match up so far. Young then runs into a back elbow. Cover attempt from Joe but Young manages to kick out at 2. Head but from Joe to get Young into the corner, Young attempts to fight back but ends up back in the corner and is met with enziguri from Joe. Joe then goes for another cover but Young manages to kick out at 2.
Young begins to fight back from a submission but is met with an atomic drop then a big boot. Joe then goes for a senton. Kick out at 2 from Young. Joe drags Young to the corner and hits Young with right hands to the face, Young counters and he now is in control as he hits joe with right hands. Joe will not go down though as Joe hits a big back body drop on Young. Joe again drags Young to the corner and attacks Young with rapid fire jabs as Groves describes it. Young is met with another elbow from Joe as he attempts to try and gain the upper hand. Cover again from Joe but Young kicks out at 2.
Young on the upper hand now as he finally gets Joe down. Yong then suplexes Joe and then runs to the top rope to hit a BIG elbow. 1-2- KICKOUT! Joe kicks out at 2. This is great TV match so far. Joe gets up and hits a chop on Young, Young looks for a pile driver but Joe counters. Continuous slaps from Joe to Young leads Young to the corner where Joe hits a big muscle buster. Joe goes straight for the Coquina Clutch which results in Young tapping. Joe refuses to let go to put forward his message that this is his time now.
WINNER – SAMOA JOE. Very good TV Match, thought Young could have had a little bit more offense, but hey, what do I know!

OVERALL THOUGHTS – For me personally, this was one of the better NXT shows since Takeover Dallas. Really enjoyed it throughout. Disagree? Feel free to leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below! Â
