During the finals of the WWE Tag Team Championship Number-One Contenders tournament at tonight's WWE Payback event, in which Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady faced The Vaudevillains, Amore suffered a serious injury when it appeared that his neck snapped against the middle rope as Simon Gotch attempted to throw him to the outside of the ring. Amore fell to the outside of the ring and was unable to respond to the referee when asked if he was OK. The referee then threw up the "X" sign and called off the match, indicating that Amore had been injured. Medical personnel then brought a stretcher to the ring and put a neck brace on Amore.
The latest update from Michael Cole was that Amore was "talking and moving his extremities."
