As previously reported, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day will be the ones inducting the legendary Fabulous Freebirds into the WWE Hall of Fame this year, despite it being previously rumored that fellow Hall of Famer Kevin Von Erich would have the honor of doing so.
In an update, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the reason The New Day will be doing so is because, according to a report made by Bryan Alvarez on "Wrestling Observer Live," Michael "P.S." Hayes is said to be a "big fan" of the trio. Furthermore, it's also being suggested that The New Day's recent face push by WWE has something to do with them inducting the Freebirds.
The Wrestling Observer further notes that there is still no official word regarding whether or not Kevin Von Erich will have some kind of role with the induction; however, it appears he won't, though Von Erich is still expected to attend the ceremony itself. Furthermore, Buddy Roberts, Jr. and Ray Gordy (former WWE Superstar "Jesse") are still believed to be attending to stand alongside Michael Hayes and Jimmy "Jam" Garvin to represent their late fathers, "Nature Boy" Buddy Roberts and Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy.
