Is Daniel Bryan's WWE Retirement Legit?

Posted By: Ben Kerin on Feb 08, 2016

Today Daniel Bryan announced on Twitter that he's retiring due to medical reasons. The belief is the retirement is probably legit and not a swerve. A number of top media outlets such as ESPN, TMZ and Forbes are reporting the news and it wouldn't be in WWE's interest to serve them through a storyline.

As we previously reported, Bryan actually handed his notice in WWE but was blocked by the company. He is in a similar situation to Rey Mysterio due to the time he has had off through injury, he will have a contract extension applied as per the terms of his current deal. Vince McMahon is the only person right now that can terminate his deal, which he is reportedly reluctant to do.

The overall belief is that it was Bryan's decision to retire from WWE and not something forced on him by WWE

Bryan is expected to explain more on his retirement on tonight's Monday Night Raw.
