PWInsider.com is reporting that the judge presiding in the murder case involving WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has issued a gag order that affect attorneys working for both the prosecution and the defense.
The gag order from Judge Kelly L. Banach came about following interest in the case by the NBC television series "Dateline". The request for the gag order came from Chief Deputy District Attorney Charles Gallagher III, who was said to be upset about comments that were made by Robert Kirwan, Snuka's defense attorney, regarding the case after the last hearing had taken place. Kirwan was reported to have referred to the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino, Snuka's then-girlfriend, as an "unfortunate accident."
Gallagher then stated that he had been contacted by the NBC series in regards to the case, asking if he would like to be interviewed. This led to Kirwan making the remark that "Dateline" was working with the Argentino family and further stating that the prosecution was using the television series and the media to their advantage by making only their version of the case known to the general public. Kirwan also made the argument that the prosecution was using the media to "bolster their case."
These issues led to Judge Banach issuing the gag order, which expressly prohibits anyone who is involved in the case from speaking about it publicly.
