New Japan Pro Wrestling Reportedly Turned Down Being On The WWE Network

Posted By: Ben Kerin on Oct 21, 2015

Takaaki Kidani, President of NJPW’s parent company Bushiroad revealed in an article about the company's business ventures that WWE approached NJPW to put their content on the WWE Network but the idea was surprisingly rejected.

Below is an extract from the article, courtesy of E. Key Oide on Twitter, in which Kidani explains why NJPW might not have seen it as a good idea:

“One proposed idea would be for the WWE to show NJPW footage on the Network, but this type of proposal just shows that they don’t see us as competition. Play NJPW footage on the Network, see if any of our wrestlers gain popularity, then buy that wrestler out; that’s probably the extent of their thoughts on it. It’s a very obvious strategy.”
