Adam Cole made his in-ring return at last nights War of the Worlds supershow after a six month absence. Cole took time off to get shoulder surgery and in that time also signed an exclusive ROH contract for a reported two years. Cole opened the show saying doctors and ROH management told him not to risk his health but he told them to, "kiss ass" and that he would face AJ Styles. Cole's return match with Styles has received good reviews, some even saying it was better than their first match at All Star Extravaganza last year. In reality Cole was only cleared to compete yesterday before the show by doctors. ROH had a replacement if need be.
One-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions Frankie Kazarian suffered a "jammed neck", with some symptoms similar to those of a stinger after taking The Young Bucks' Indytaker finisher in their three way tag team match. Kazarian was said to have been icing his neck post-match but won't miss tonight's show where he and Christopher Daniels face Okada and Gedo.
Before doors opened, ROH and NJPW presented Kushida with a cake to celebrate his birthday. They all sang happy birthday to him, he was said to have been delighted.
Some notable backstage visitors last night included independent talent AR Fox and ECW alumni The Blue Meanie. Meanie lives in the area and often visits ROH shows when they're in town. No word on why AR Fox was there but it could have been as simple as he knew people to get backstage and wanted to see the show. There was said to have been a lot of local independent wrestling talent at the show both looking to take it in and at possible try outs with Ring of Honor.
The rumor going around is that Final Battle 2015 will be a two night event from the 2300 Arena, taking place on 12/11 and 12/12. No word on how this will effect a possible pay-per-view but if they make it a two night event it is expected that the shows will be stacked as it is ROH's biggest show of the year.
