On the afternoon of NXT: Takeover III there is great of excitement about the future of WWE. Curiosity has always surrounded the intrigue of what NXT talent may be called up to the main roster. Charlotte made a much anticipated appearance on Raw this past Monday. There is also the excitement of what the big three will do during their time in NXT, and how long will there stay be? By the big three I mean Hideo Itami (Kenta), Finn Balor (Prince Devitt), and Kevin Owens (Kevin Steen). There arrivals were much anticipated. Although I am also excited about the future of WWE and NXT, I still have a one question. Now that three of the biggest names are signed who is next for NXT.
There is always popular names that people want to see be signed AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, and many others. I came up with three stars that I feel deserve a chance, or in two cases another chance.
The first is Kenny Omega, he wrestled in WWE back in 2005-2006. This would be a tricky signing because Omega was not released he asked for it. Omega has also stated that WWE has tried to sign him since. If WWE wants Omega, and they should they’re going to need to sweeten the pot. Omega is an amazing talent one who has signed a huge deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Omega has made a name for himself oversees, and really has no reason to come back to the U.S. He has had huge matches with many of the men recently signed by WWE. All of this said Kenny is an entertainer, and should want to entertain on the greatest stage of them all. Us as fans should want this to, if you have never seen Omega wrestle I encourage you to look up some of his matches, you will quickly want to see his name on the NXT roster. Omega is only 31 so he has time left on his career.
I said before that two of the three deserved a second chance. The first was Kenny Omega, the second is Ricochet. Now he never signed with WWE because they passed on him, but he had a shot to make an impression. Ricochet has wrestled in the independents and all over the world. Many know him as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground. He has continued to work on the independent seen while he wrestles as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground, showing his love and commitment to wrestling. He has made a huge name for himself, and his style is very entertaining for the fans. Some have thought maybe he was not signed by WWE because they have many wrestlers of his type already. Watch a Ricochet match and you will see there are not many his type on any roster. Hopefully once WWE moves some wrestlers to the main roster or releases some they will once again go after Ricochet. There is plenty time with Ricochet as well, he is only 26.
The final wrestler isn’t a light high flyer like the other two. His name is Nick Aldis, or better known to fans as Magnus from TNA. For some reason many wrestlers from TNA end up with a stigma on them that WWE doesn’t touch. They have signed a few but none have panned out to be huge stars. I feel Aldis could change that, he is an amazing performer and talent. Aldis debut as Magnus in 2008, so we have been seeing him for 6 years now. What many fans forget is he was only 22 at the time of his debut, still learning his craft. With wrestlers such as Angle, Sting, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels working with Magnus over the past six years he has only gotten better. At the age of 28 there is still time for Aldis to become NXT Champion, and then WWE World Champion. Aldis could add much needed depth, talent and charisma to the heavyweight picture in NXT and WWE.
In closing there are many great talents on the independent scene and overseas. WWE has made great choices in there signings for the NXT product, but these three would add even more talent. As fans we all have a wrestler we would like to see in WWE and NXT, hopefully some day we will all get are wish.
