Does anyone remember Wrestlemania 29, the night Fandango beat Chris Jericho. Many thought he was clearly on his way to being a huge star. The next night on RAW fans were singing along with his entrance music, his entrance music even being listed as one of the most downloaded songs at that time. Many people saying he was getting over. I at the time thought the same thing. Then we have Adam Rose about a year or so later, same thing his music was being sung by the fans and being downloaded, and at first many thinking he was getting over.
Fast-forward to today, where are these two wrestlers? Almost nowhere to be found is the answer. This past Monday on RAW there was a brief Adam Rose sighting at the end of RAW when all the wrestlers hit the ring. If you see either wrestler at this point it’s on Superstars, Main Event or maybe the very seldom Smackdown.Â
I went back and viewed the match Fandango had with Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 29, in all honesty the quality of the match was very good. The fans seem interested, but now I question how much of that was for Jericho not Fandango? I have watched many matches he has had since and you know what I see, there was interest in his entrance but once his matches began the crowd was flat. I did the same with Adam Rose and I came up with the same conclusion, his entrance has the fans intrigued, but during the matches everything dies down.
Now the question both these wrestlers and WWE needs to figure out before it’s too late is why? Is it they are bad wrestlers or are there gimmicks are holding them back? I have watched both and I strongly believe both are very talented in ring performers. That leaves us with their gimmicks, at first they were ok but now it’s just hindering both wrestlers in the ring. I think allot of this is because once the match starts we want to see both wrestlers wrestle. I for one do not want to see Fandango dance during his match, or Adam Rose skip around during his.
Is there still time for these wrestlers to turn it around? Yes, of course if WWE points both in a new direction. One bigger question is if at one time they were getting over why could they not sustain that? The simple answer to that is Fandango and Adam Rose were never really over, but there music sure was. Perhaps WWE needs to give the music department a raise because at times they’ve been more over than the wrestlers.
