IWC, how are you? It’s been some time, but I’m back answering my own questions and rambling incoherently while asking you questions, so you can ramble incoherently along with me. I’ll be giving my synopsis on last week’s question, which was:
“If Hunter does in fact run and organize NXT, in your opinion (once Vince steps down from his duties and seemingly hands it over to Hunter) will WWE’s program have more success and popularity with its fans once HHH is in complete control of the product, rather than what we’re getting right now.”
Lets get rambling, shall we?
I personally think that the product will be 10x what it is now, once Mr. Levesque (That’s HHH for those of you who aren’t close with him) finally has control over the product. The different level of energy, excitement and all around great wrestling, is incredibly different from the Raw/Smackdown combo that Vince still oversees. It’s been made apparent that supposedly Vince changes his mind a lot backstage, whether it is segments of promos or matches, for that matter. Hunter seems to have his eyes set on each and every episode of NXT with little to no change in the programming.
It’s also become apparent to the IWC that NXT is the stronger programming, because we aren’t having gimmick-style, silly matches shoved down our throats, or having pointless feuds take up time over more deserving stars. I firmly believe that Sami Zayn will be a top tier guy, for the simple fact that HHH praises him. HHH also praised Seth Rollins, and look where that landed him. With Hunter in charge, we could get quality programming on a weekly basis on all shows, rather than quality being given to us weekly by NXT and sporadically by Raw and Smackdown. Since Hunter is coming from wrestling and having him be in charge, he’d know what makes a moment special, what the people want/don’t want to see and add in his own thoughts and I feel as if the product will soar when his time comes to take over.
One aspect HHH could/should bring back (as previously mentioned in comments from last article) was the brand split of Raw and Smackdown. There have been some great moments that included the whole “Raw vs. Smackdown” and I think in this day and age, it can be done and done well. Raw can feature the main eventers like Cena, Orton, Bray Wyatt, Bryan among others, while Smackdown can feature guys like Ziggler, Sandow, Rusev among others. Each brand gets their respected titles (Heavyweight, US, split the tag titles) for Smackdown and vice versa for Raw. Bring back Bragging Rights, incorporate the brand warfare and we have some great television product, all throughout the entire week. There were a handful of aspects that worked well a decade ago and WWE & company should inquire about bringing a few aspects back and using new talent to utilize it.
Previously mentioned was HHH conducting business, from the wrestling perception, as well as a business perception. I feel that it would be a 65/35 split on how he’d conduct business, but it would continue to be a successful one at that. He appreciates a good wrestler, as well as a good hard worker so there could be a crop of talent that’s not getting used, become relevant again, under his reign. It would be an entire different mindset in charge, one that wrestling fans could feel safe about having, also.
There are endless possibilities with HHH in charge and I get personally giddy at the thought of them. This of course would mean he would be out of wrestling for good, or “for good”, knowing him.
Question time!
Since the event of the Seth Rollins heel turn, what do YOU think would be the next best heel or face turn for the company? What benefits would come from it, and ultimately would it be “best for business.”
Thanks again, IWC
Stay Classy,
Quinn
