So much going on in the wrestling world and I’m not sure where to begin. There’s a couple of thing’s I’d like to take an opinion at but it’s not something anyone has talked about before. We’re well off WrestleMania, heading into the month of May, and the WWE machine continues to churn and churn with Daniel Bryan at the helm as the World Heavyweight Champion. Evolution reformed because it made sense and now they are feuding with The Shield while Dean Ambrose continues to smash the United States title record for longest reign by never actually defending the thing. Cesaro left Zeb and the Real Americans because he proclaimed himself a “Paul Heyman Guy”. Speaking of Paul Heyman, did you know his client, the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar beat the Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania?
Ah, I don’t want to forget the new wave of faces that are soon to debut on Raw soon, that being Bo Dallas and Adam Rose (I’m still upset they boxed up the Leo Kruger gimmick). The NXT stars are becoming the fore-front of WWE’s tomorrow and what a kick in the ass to AJ, losing the Diva’s championship to NXT Women’s champion, Paige. The future does look bright and I suggest you follow NXT on the network because you’re missing out on some quality action. Not sure if I have a “favorite” but I do enjoy watching The Ascension lay waste to opponents.
The “real” world of wrestling is fun and interesting but I’m thinking of maybe changing gears here a bit. I’ve been having a hard time finding material to write though I have a whole wrestling library at my disposal. There are plenty of grapplers from yesteryear to dig into or profile but I feel like that’s just writing for the sake of writing. The crew here at Wrestling News Source put out some quality work from the Wild’s War Cry show, to Vicky Earl’s Vlogdown to Caylon Knox’s “Origins” which started with the beginnings of the Wyatt Family. Check them all out and I hope I can keep an audience with what I aim to do here. However, in order for me to do this, I’m going to need some input and this is where, you, the reader comes in!
One game I’ll play despite its tepid reputation is the WWE series. I don’t care how many glitches there are or how it’s not No Mercy and the engine sucks, for all intents and purposes, it is a sound WWE video game and I’m glad to play it yearly. Admitting, it can drag and become repetitious with it’s replay value coming from playing with a bunch of friends but I do enjoy single player and I do love the Universe mode as it allows me to maximize the most out of the game. Some call it a glorified exhibition and I’m not arguing that and I do also agree that it needs an overhaul in order to be one of the best game modes in any game, period.
I had told myself that when I fired up my Universe mode, I wouldn’t reset it no matter what. Play it out as the year goes on and see what I can get out of it. Well, I was doing great and pulling together some good feuds and stories (in my own mind), enjoying what was going on, and then WrestleMania came. Since I don’t want to continue on numbers, I repped my home state by having my “first” WrestleMania set in the WrestleMania 29 arena. Cesaro won his feud against Randy Orton and kept the Intercontinental title while Damien Sandow and the Big Show retained against the Outsiders, Razor Ramon and Diesel (I felt like playing with these characters though I did plan on fitting in Hall/Nash somewhere down the line). Sting and the Undertaker had their match with the Man Known As… defeating the Streak (CPU Vs. CPU) and Hulk Hogan returned at the Royal Rumble to win it, go onto WrestleMania, and defeat John Cena in the main event for the WWE Championship.
I’m forgetting most of the card because it’s been some time and I never really jotted down what was going on. I was trying to edge into bringing back WCW because I still had a “brand split” and plans for a newly formed Horsemen led by Cody (maybe?) kick that off. I introduced Arn Anderson after WrestleMania and was starting to slowly build into that but Sting somehow felt like a heel to me for defeating the Undertaker and Taker was interfering in matches left and right to get his revenge. At some point in my mind, this wasn’t sitting well, instead of taking the WWE route and me and forgetting some storylines never happened, I figured I’d reset the thing. Now I stare at my screen not sure what to do.
I do want to play the game but I can’t get into it like I did. I even reset the game itself, “start fresh”, to see if I could get my imagination running wild again but…I just can’t anything going. I put it back in the box for now as I think about going back to it later. Then it hit me. What if I had an audience to project these “storylines” to?
There are plenty of people who film their stuff and put it on YouTube. There are some really good editors too and do a phenomenal job at putting them together. I don’t have the resources for that so here’s what I propose.
Would anybody be interested in reading a WWE2K Universe column as if you were reading actual results from shows? I would go into detail about storylines and on-goings and such. I would try to write bi-weekly (pending life) of where were at, what’s going on, and try to make it as engaging as possible. I wouldn’t tell you if I played the match or let the CPU duke it out but I’d definitely take the cheers, jeers, compliments, and complaints into consideration.

I’ll read them, might even respond to a few. In my mind, this sounds like it could be fun, different, and another dimension of the WNS galaxy. You, the reader, let me know and I’ll do the rest. Have a good day! Peww, Peww!
