"WWE Studios announced that it has acquired U.S. distribution and worldwide remake rights to the French language film "Queens of the Ring." WWE Studios originally partnered with Warner Bros. on the French production "Les Reines Du Ring" that was released theatrically in France in July of last year.
"Les Reines Du Ring" was produced by Fabrice Goldstein, Antonine Rein and Thomas Langmann, the Academy Award-winning producer behind "The Artist," and directed by Jean-Marc Rudnicki. The outrageous comedy centers on Rose, a mother attempting to reconnect with her estranged son who is a passionate WWE fan. Stopping at nothing to bring them closer, Rose grabs her son’s attention by embarking on a rigorous training program to become a WWE Diva as she convinces her cashier colleagues at the local supermarket to join the journey to become Queens of the Ring.
"Les Reines Du Ring" stars Marilou Berry (Rose), Nathalie Baye (Colette), André Dussollier (Richard), Audrey Fleurot (Jessica) and features WWE Superstars Mike “The Miz” Mizanin and Eve Torres.
"We are excited to acquire distribution and remake rights to a wonderfully entertaining comedy like 'Queens of the Ring,'” said Michael Luisi, President of WWE Studios. “This film gives WWE Studios the opportunity to introduce a 'feel good' story to a broad audience, while serving up a film we know our core fans will also enjoy.”
