WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler recently responded to the rumors that his legendary wrestling rival and good friend in real life Andy Kaufman may still be alive. As many fans are already aware, Lawler had a big feud with the comedian back in the day. Ever since Kaufman's passing there have been rumors that he may have faked his own death, as he reportedly did tell some people that he had thought about doing so and then returning to the spotlight some day.
This past Monday night, Kaufman's brother Michael told an audience at a New York comedy club that Andy is still alive and that he sent Michael a letter.
Jerry Lawler gave the following statement to CNN:
"I would like nothing better than to know that Andy was still alive and been with us all this time," Lawler told CNN Thursday by phone. "But like anybody else, I really don't know any more than what I've heard.
"It could be a great hoax in his honor, dreamed up by his friend Bob Zamuda and his brother, Michael. That would be something that would be in keeping with Andy's tradition, but who's to say. It could really be legit."
