LordsOfPain.net reports that WWE Diva Eva Marie's performance on Monday night's edition of RAW drew negative reviews from fans online. This is largely due to her inexperience (she has only wrestled one other match, which took place at SummerSlam Axxess in August), which was seen around the world by millions of viewers. Further word is that the reaction is exactly what WWE wanted to achieve as Marie was reportedly "set up to fail" by members of WWE management.
Furthermore, The Wrestling Observer claims that WWE wanted to knock Marie "down a few pegs" since "they feel she has an undeserved ego and doesn't realize how much she has to learn as a performer." For this reason, WWE "had her sink" on national television with the hope that she would be made humble.
LordsOfPain.net reports further that this is not the first time Marie, who is said to be "passionately hated" by some of her fellow co-workers, has been the victim of a prank, as during filming of a segment for the August 4th episode of Total Divas, Marie was falsely led to believe that she had committed a wrongful act which had infuriated Stephanie McMahon, who wanted to confront her about it. The subject of the meeting involved Marie apparently falsifying her professional background so that she could audition to be a dancer for Fandango, which was a "fabricated storyline." Stephanie threatened to fire Marie during the segment "if she embarrassed the company again with her conduct." Marie was legitimately upset and cried during the meeting, but was unaware that the entire thing was orchestrated and that Stephanie was using her on-screen character to fool with her.
