While Smackdown finished up in Nashville, on the flipside of that coin Raw wrapped up their weekend tour in Charlotte North Carolina. Home to Hall Of Famer "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair with a live event that featured a surprise appearance by a horseman, a 2 out of 3 fall WWE Title match and yes, yet another Last Man Standing Match
1. US Title: Santino Marella d. Jack Swagger
Decent pop for Marella and some decent heat for Swagger. This match was slow to start with a lot of stalling and comedy before going into back and forth action. A lound "Santino!" chant from the crowd. Swagger applied the anklelock at one point but Santino reversed it and powered out. Swagger threw Santino into the ropes, missed a clothesline and Santino hit The Cobra to pick up the win and retain the title.
2. Eve d. Kelly Kelly
Eve came out to chants of "Hoeski". Kelly followed next encouraging the crowd to chant even more. No promo from Eve this time. A somewhat similar match to the one that took place on Friday night in Lakeland, Florida. Longer and better quality than expecrted. There were chants of "Hoeski" and "Kelly?" throughout the crowd. The end came when Eve rolled Kelly up but used the ropes for leverage to score the pin.
3. R-Truth d. Leo Kruger
Kruger was introduced first and brought out a mic introducing himself to those who didn't know who he was. Standard heel promo about how Americans are arrogant and lazy and how good he is. Truth then came out to a huge pop from the crowd since Raw was in his hometown of Charlotte. Good back and forth match with Truth hitting the Lie Detector for the pin
4. Ryback d. Alex Riley
Again, no one knew that Ryback was Season 1 NXT star Skip Sheffield. Ryback got most of the offense winning with a sick looking finisher and it seemed Riley may have been legitimately injured as he remained in the ring for quite some time long after the match was over holding the back of his head. Referee Charles Robinson exchanged words with ring announcer Justin Roberts prior to helping Riley to the back
5. WWE Tag Titles: Primo & Epico d. Mason Ryan & Zack Ryder
Ryder started out for his team but tagged in Ryan. Primo & Epico did a comedy spot where neither one wanted any part of Ryan blind tagging each other. Ryder played the babyface in peril. Tease of a hot tag to Ryan but the ref never saw it so he wouldn't allow it. Rosa was very animated on the outside engaging with numerous fans at ringside. Ryder did make the hot tag and Ryan hit a double suplex on the tag team champs. Ryan went for his finisher but Rosa got up on the apron for the distraction and Ryan fell victim to the backstabber.
6. Chris Jericho d. Kofi Kingston
Slow match with mostly cheers from the crowd when Jericho came out. There was a mix of boos as well but Jericho eventually turned the entire crowd with some mic work. Slow match with stalling tactics on the part of Jericho but a good match. Kofi went for Trouble In Paradise but Jericho countered into Walls Of Jericho, Kofi powered out. Went for Trouble In Paradise and hit it the second time, Jericho kicked out at two and a half and hit the Codebreaker to pick up the win
[Intermission]
7. Brodus Clay d. The Miz
Great pop for Brodus and major heel heat for Miz. Miz carried the match selling Clay's shots. Clay at one point danced as Miz attacked him, and every time Clay danced he'd strike Miz, Miz grabbed the mic and said this is a wrestling match not a dancing match and he was leaving. Miz ran up the ramp but Clay chased after him and threw him back into the ring. Miz got the upper hand and mocked Clay's dance moves. He tried going for the SCF but couldn't get his arms around Clay. Clay shoved him, hit the shoulderblock then the splash for the win. After the match, Clay, Naomi and Cameron danced some more and Brodus high fived the fans around ringside.
8. John Cena d. Kane
VERY pro-Cena crowd with "Let's Go Cena" chants which were louder than the "Cena Sucks" chants. Cena got thrown into the ring steps, hit with a chair and the ring bell. Kane then threw him through a table but Cena made it to his feet before the ten count. Another table came into play and Kane went to chokeslam Cena but Cena turned it into the AA and drilled Kane through the table laying him out for the full ten count
9. WWE Title; CM Punk d. Dolph Ziggler
Strong reaction for Punk who paid tribute to the Nature Boy Ric Flair with chops to Ziggler and emulating the Ric Flair strut. Good mat based wrestling. Ziggler tore the turnbuckle off the pad but the ref caught him. Ziggler tried using a chair but it was taken away, while the ref disposed of the chair, Ziggler drove Punk's head into the exposed turnbuckle and pinned him to take the first fall
Ziggler 1 Punk 0
Several nearfalls and teases of Zig Zags and GTS in the second fall. The ref took a bump and as expected, Jericho came down to run interference and nailed Punk. Ziggler went for the cover but Punk kicked out. Jericho stood on the ramp as the match continued, Jericho jumped back up on the apron but Punk hit him with a boot to the face and turned to hit Ziggler with the GTS to pick up the 2nd and decisive fall of the match.
Punk 2 Ziggler 1
After the match, Punk celebrated with fans at ringside then got back in the ring and took the mic saying the best part is yet to come. He said someone is going into the Hall Of Fame who never got the credit he deserved and deserved to be appreciated for all he has done. He then called Arn Anderson out to the ring. Anderson came out with John Cena because he feels the spotlight should never be on a non wrestler. Anderson seemed genuinely touched and thanked both Cena and Punk saying they were two of the best in the business and gave his heartfelt thanks for all the support and has always given it his all over the years and it was an honour to be going into the Hall Of Fame
