New Facebook Scam Using Name And Likeness Of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Making The Rounds

New Facebook Scam Using Name And Likeness Of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Making The Rounds

A brand new scam has recently begun circulating on Facebook, and it uses both the name and likeness of actor and former WWE Superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The scam pages consistently and falsely post that Johnson will be giving away random things to every individual who both likes and share specific posts mentioning the "giveaways." More specifically, the posts falsely state that Johnson will be giving away cars, gift cards, and exorbitant amounts of money.

Here is an example of one of these posts, which claims that Johnson will be giving away cars, gift cards, and a total of $5,000,000 to everyone who likes and shares the post (the page that initially made this post has since been removed by Facebook; however, others have been shown to exist):

These posts are similar in nature to those recently made by scam pages using the name and likeness of actor Tyler Perry, in which it was falsely stated that Perry would be giving away items such as money, cars, and even homes to fans who liked and shared specific posts. Perry himself would later post a video to his official Facebook page confirming that he was giving nothing away and advised his fans to not share any of the posts, as well as any of their personal information, which was found to be used for attempting to scam people out of more money and potentially commit identity theft.

More recently, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon's name and likeness were used in a similar scam via Twitter, in which it was falsely claimed that he would be giving away money to fans.

If you spot any of the scam pages claiming to be Johnson and making these types of posts, you are advised to report them to Facebook immediately.

NOTE: We attempted to share this story earlier today; however, there were a few technical issues that prevented the story from properly showing up.
