Jinder Mahal's return to WWE in 2016 was originally going to see him become a 'Mahal Monitor', according to a tweet by Ryan Satin of Wrestling Sheet.
Satin said how the gimmick would've seen the modern-day Maharaja become a self-appointed authority figure.
When Jinder Mahal re-signed with WWE, there was a pitch to have his character be known as “The Mahal Monitor”where he’d act as a sort of self-appointed authority figure of the backstage hallways of WWE. Glad we didn’t get that instead of “The Constable.”— Ryan Satin (@ryansatin) July 31, 2018
Mahal returned in 2016, two years after his release, with an improved physique. He captured the WWE Championship at Backlash 2017 and the United States Championship at WrestleMania 34.
