Mayor of London Boris Johnson has said he is "dead keen" for WWE WrestleMania to come to London.Â
The last major WWE event in England was SummerSlam'92 which drew a staggering 80,000 into the old Wembley stadium to see, Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels, Randy Savage and Bret Hart defending his Intercontinental title against his brother-in-law, The British Bulldog. It's often cited as one of the best WWE events of all time.
WWE at current brings their weekly televised events, Monday Night Raw and SmackDown over for two tours which typically take place in April and November, featuring house shows all over the country.
WWE did try and recreate the grandeur of SummerSlam '92 with a few special UK only PPV's in the late 90's, early 2000's but nothing has come close and UK fans have long been dreaming of the day an event on the scale of WrestleMania returns to Wembley Stadium.
