CBS Sports is reporting via their official website that the Big Boss Man will be posthumously inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2016 alongside Sting, The Godfather, and The Fabulous Freebirds the night before WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Texas. WWE has since confirmed the report.
Big Boss Man (real name Ray Traylor" made his professional wrestling debut in 1985 with Jim Crockett Promotions, initially working as a jobber before booker Dusty Rhodes repackaged him as "Big Bubba Rogers," the silent bodyguard of Jim Cornette. Traylor then moved on to the Universal Wrestling Federation in 1987, winning the promotion's heavyweight championship from the One Man Gang (who would later leave to join WWE).
Traylor himself would join WWE in 1988 as the Big Boss Man, a former prison guard - who Traylor actually was in real life before becoming a professional wrestler. Traylor would go on to form a partnership with Akeem (formerly known as the One Man Gang) and the tandem would call themselves "The Twin Towers," managed by "The Doctor of Style" Slick. During his early years in WWE, Traylor would have notable feuds with names such as Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, The Mountie, Ted DiBiase, and Mr. Perfect.
After a brief stint in WCW, Traylor would return to WWE in 1998 as his Big Boss Man character, siding with Vince McMahon's Corporation faction, serving as McMahon's bodyguard during his on-screen feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin. During this time, Traylor would win WWE's Tag Team Championship with Ken Shamrock, as well as the Hardcore Championship.
Traylor was released from WWE in 2003 and passed away on September 22, 2004 at his home in Dallas, Georgia as the result of a heart attack.
